Tutoring Center Goals

  • Assist students in understanding course subject matter through proper tutoring techniques.
  • Ensure that students achieve their personal academic goals by providing them with the appropriate skills and tools.
  • Foster a collaborative environment between students, tutors, staff, and faculty

Our tutors are VCCCD students and students from local universities who have been recommended by their instructors. Aside from helping students with course content, tutors also clarify instructions for assignments, help brainstorm ideas for papers and projects, and facilitate effective study habits and exam preparation.

Tutors will:

  • Help students review subject material.
  • Clarify assignments and help select appropriate study strategies.
  • Help students assess their learning styles.
  • Encourage independent learning.

Tutors will not:

  • Do work for students.
  • Edit papers.
  • Tutor outside the Tutoring Center.
